This individual is primarily responsible for creating exhibits/projects based on a client’s needs that: communicate the client’s Brand, appropriately display their products and/or services, and respect their budget. The designs also need to reflect a professional and design-forward appearance while supporting The Rogers Company brand. It is the mission of the designer to win/retain contracts with our clients while creating a portfolio of projects that will build additional business for The Rogers Company. This individual is the creative heart of the project and should have an innate understanding of three-dimensional space. They need to be a good listener, organized and able to clearly communicate their ideas with words and images.

Exhibit Designer Essential Functions

  • Communicate with the Sales Team and client to comprehend the scope of a project – client requirements, desires, and needs – to create a project that is structurally sound, constructible with the resources available, design-forward and within any budgetary constraints.
  • Through sketches, computer modeling, and/or rendering create conceptual designs that are readable, thought-provoking, and accurate to the constraints of the project. Send digital copies (and printed/mounted copies if required) for Sales to use in presentation to the client.
  • Responsible for taking feedback from client and the team to focus the design, incorporate changes and modifications and re-render or redraw images to create a final design for presenting to the client.
  • Reviewing design concepts and details with in-house team to determine if design is within budget including the production of Redline Drawings to inform estimates and final quotes.
  • Responsible for choosing materials, colors, and any unique finishes within the constraints of budget and availability and helping to keep the onsite material libraries current.
  • In addition to providing images for formal presentations, you may be asked to: provide Material & Color boards, assist in PowerPoint presentations, attend, and assist in face-to-face presentations to clients (may require traveling), assist other team members on occasion to support the prime objective – to sell the project and secure a signed contract.
  • Responsible for keeping conceptual projects within budget and on schedule. Responsible for coordinating schedules with other designers and managing time responsibly to meet project milestones.
  • Communicate directly with clients when appropriate (Sales Team will direct) on job-related needs or critical information flow.
  • Designer, along with the Sales Team, should follow the progress of a project through Project Management and Production to ensure that the final project is reflective of the original concept “as sold”, and that it ultimately reflects the client’s expectations and The Rogers Company brand.

Qualifications / Skills and knowledge Requirements

  • Associate degree or above in Exhibit Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or related field preferred but not necessary.
  • Proficiency in 3DMax, AutoCAD, and Photoshop required. Experience in SketchUp, Illustrator, or additional 3D and graphic programs preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in the Exhibit/Trade Show or related Design field.
  • Innate understanding of three-dimensional space a must!
  • Experience in public speaking, marketing, branding a bonus.
